Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 1 October 2026

This English version is a convenience translation; only the German version is legally binding.

1. Scope

These terms govern the use of AI Steps — the interactive course on building large language models — and all associated features, including the paid Plus subscription. Conflicting or differing terms do not form part of the contract.

2. Provider and contracting party

Your contracting party is:

Jannik Agethen
Sole proprietorship (Einzelunternehmen)
An Hornsgarten 60
50321 Brühl
Germany
Email: support@prisma-ltd.de

Further provider information is available in the legal notice.

3. Services

  • Free (€0): The LLM and PyTorch foundations, with 16 learning units, 48 sessions and their accompanying guides, and the learning room “Ein Modell lernt” (“A model learns”) are free. Your account saves your learning progress.
  • Plus: The complete learning path with all 250 sessions, all guides and four learning rooms with checked exercises. New subscriptions can only be purchased when purchasing is available on the pricing page. If purchasing is unavailable, visiting the pricing page does not create a subscription.
  • Browser experiments: The included experiments and training of the small practice model run without a rented cloud GPU. Paid training runs are not offered.

Separate test environments explicitly identify simulated payments. Only in those environments do simulated test payments create no real payment obligations.

4. Account, free use and minimum age

Creating an account establishes the agreement for the free services. You may use AI Steps from the age of 16. If you are not yet of legal age, you need the consent of your legal representatives to conclude the agreement. A Plus subscription can only be concluded by adults or by minors with the consent of their legal representatives.

You must provide truthful information when registering and keep your login details secure. Notify us immediately of unauthorized access to your account.

5. Concluding a Plus contract

  1. On the pricing page, you choose Plus and the billing interval. The presentation on the pricing page is not yet a binding offer.
  2. You confirm that you have read these terms and the Privacy Policy and expressly request that we begin performance before the withdrawal period expires (see section 8). You are then forwarded to Stripe Checkout.
  3. In Stripe Checkout, you enter your payment details. Before submitting, you see the price, billing interval and renewal and can review and correct all entries. You can cancel the ordering process at any time by leaving Stripe Checkout.
  4. By clicking the order button with the obligation to pay, you make a binding offer to conclude the Plus subscription. We accept the offer by activating Plus for your account after Stripe confirms the payment; this concludes the contract.
  5. You then receive a confirmation by email with the contract details, these terms and the cancellation policy in the version you agreed to.

The contract can be concluded in German or English. The German version of these terms is legally binding. We store every version of these terms and of the cancellation policy on which a contract is based. You receive the contract text with the confirmation email; the current version is available on this page.

6. Prices and payment

The prices shown on the pricing page and in Stripe Checkout before you order apply. All prices are final prices. No VAT is charged under the small business exemption, § 19 UStG.

The price is payable in advance for the selected billing interval. We process payments through the payment service provider Stripe; Stripe Checkout shows the available payment methods.

If a payment fails, we pause access to the Plus content until the payment has been made successfully. Your learning progress remains saved.

7. Term and cancellation

A monthly Plus subscription renews for one further month at a time unless you cancel it by the end of the current billing period. An annual Plus subscription initially runs for one year; after that it continues for an indefinite period and can be cancelled at any time with one month's notice. We refund payments on a pro-rata basis for the time after such a cancellation takes effect.

You can cancel at any time without signing in via Cancel contracts here, when signed in under “Manage subscription”, or informally by email to the address in section 2. After cancellation, Plus remains active until the cancellation takes effect: for a monthly subscription and during the first year of an annual subscription, at the end of the paid billing period. Free then applies; your learning progress remains saved. A temporary inability to make new purchases does not end an existing subscription.

The free agreement is for an indefinite period. You can terminate it informally at any time. You can request deletion of your account and learning data by email to support@prisma-ltd.de; we then delete the data unless statutory retention obligations prevent this. We may terminate the free agreement with reasonable notice. Both parties' right to terminate for good cause remains unaffected.

8. Right of withdrawal

Consumers have a statutory right of withdrawal. Details and the model withdrawal form are set out in the cancellation policy. You can also declare your withdrawal via Withdraw from contract.

Plus starts immediately after the contract is concluded if, when ordering, you expressly request that we begin performance before the withdrawal period expires. If you then withdraw, you owe us compensation for the value of the performance provided until the withdrawal. It is calculated as the proportion of the performance provided until then compared with the full scope of the contract (section 357a (2) BGB).

9. Rules of use

You use AI Steps personally and for learning. In particular, the following are prohibited: automated bulk requests, attempts to bypass protective mechanisms (authentication, limits or sandbox), sharing course content with third parties, and any use that disrupts operations or affects other users. In the event of a breach, we may block access to the extent that this is reasonable, taking your legitimate interests into account.

10. AI tutor

When available, an AI tutor helps you with questions about a lesson. It is an automated system and can make mistakes. Its answers are learning aids, not reliable professional, legal, financial or medical information, and do not replace checking sources. Only questions that you explicitly submit are sent to the AI service provider to generate an answer, together with the lesson title and any code you optionally include; details are in the Privacy Policy. The tutor may be temporarily unavailable or subject to usage limits.

11. Intellectual property

Course content, text, exercises, graphics and software are protected by copyright. We grant you personal, non-transferable and non-exclusive use for learning. Reproduction, publication or commercial use beyond that use requires our prior written consent. Solutions and notes that you create yourself remain your intellectual property.

12. Availability

We strive to operate reliably. Maintenance and technical problems may temporarily limit availability. Learning progress already saved will not be reset because of a product release. Statutory and contractual claims remain unaffected.

13. Liability for defects

The statutory provisions on digital products (sections 327 et seq. BGB) apply to defects. This includes providing you, during the term of the contract, with the updates required to keep the product in conformity with the contract.

14. Liability

Our liability is unlimited in cases of intent and gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, and as required by statutory product liability provisions. In cases of slight negligence involving a breach of essential contractual obligations, liability is limited to foreseeable damage typical of the contract; otherwise, it is excluded. These rules apply to claims for damages; your other statutory rights in the event of defects (section 13) remain unaffected. AI Steps provides learning content — no particular learning outcome or suitability for a particular use (such as employment) is owed.

15. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms for the future if there is an objective reason, such as a change in the law, a change in case law or new features. We will inform you by email or in the product at least 30 days before the planned effective date and show you the changes. The changes only take effect if you expressly agree to them; your silence does not count as agreement.

If you do not agree, the previous terms continue to apply. If continuing on the previous terms is unreasonable for us, we may terminate the contract: a Plus subscription at the end of the current billing period, the free agreement with reasonable notice. Your right to cancel at any time under section 7 remains unaffected.

16. Final provisions

German law applies, excluding the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, this choice of law applies only insofar as it does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the country in which you have your habitual residence. If any provision is invalid, the remainder of the contract remains effective. We are neither willing nor obliged to participate in dispute-resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
